SPNB Will Not Raise House Prices, Says Idris Haron
MUAR, March 13 (Bernama) -- Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) will not increase the prices of the 14,470 units of houses of various types which it was developing throughout the country, said its chairman Datuk Ir. Idris Haron.

The company would maintain the original price of the houses in line with the agency's mission of providing affordable homes to Malaysians in the medium- and low-income group.

"It's not proper to raise the price of houses merely because of speculation that the price of building materials will go up," he said.

He said this when approached by reporters after opening the general meetings of the Puteri, Youth and Wanita Umno branches in the Muar division at the Dewan Tun Sulaiman Ninam Shah at Jalan Mariam here, Saturday night.

Idris said the main focus of the SPNB currently was on efforts to salvage and complete 16 of its housing projects throughout the country which had been neglected for so long.

He said the company would reduce the number of new housing projects until the neglected housing projects had been completed and sold to buyers.
